Animal cams

SMITHSONIAN: WORTH A VISIT was a memorable headline from the Townsville Bulletin years ago. (Another winner was an article that referred to a local academic as a 'polymorph'. We think they meant polymath, but who knows?) Well, the Bully has never been so accurate. Or, indeed, so succinct. The museums of the Smithsonian Institute are well worth a visit. More than one. You can spend the rest of your life gazing in wonder at the material on display.

But if you're stuck behind a desk, you can still get a glimpse of the SI. The National Zoo has webcams galore. Every one a guaranteed time-waster. See the big fish of the Amazon River aquarium. The giant Pacific octopus. The naked mole-rats. The brilliant flamingos. And a host of others. They're all here!
