Hairy legs

I was delighted to see that the spring sun has brought out the spiders. Several lynx spiders (Oxyopes) were catching the rays this morning. This individual was basking on the leaf of a Grevillea venusta.

Lynx spiders don't built webs to trap their prey. They stalk and leap like their close relatives, the jumping spiders (Salticidae). Although they're not quite as big-bug-eyed cute as the salticids, they do have a certain appeal.
