Some things you expect to see in Portland Harbour — silver gulls, plastic bait bags, bulk carriers. But this wasn't on the list. The Ocean Patriot was in for an oil change and service and probably a touch up of the paintwork. Apparently it's also having its jewellery inspected and recertified. Not having a nautical background, I have no idea what that is. However I'm sure the truth is no match for my imagination.
Four tugs manoeuvred the massive rig into place on January 12. It'll be there for another fortnight or so. It's almost worth the trip back down to watch them tow the spruced-up monster back out to sea.
