It's hot

Right. That's it. I've had it with Melbourne weather. I won't be spending next summer in the 'temperate' south.

We're stuck at 43C (110F) for the rest of the week. The Bureau forecasts that it'll drop to a balmy 29C (84F) at night, so that's something to look forward to.

You can tell that I don't have air-conditioning at home, can't you?

Hi Snail
You should become an aquatic snail!
Seriously, I know that suburbia can be nasty in weather like that.
I once stayed in inner-city Adelaide during weather like this. Terrible in a little narrow single-fronted house, with a tin roof and no insulation. It was terrible.

It is truly appalling here. Just checked the hall thermometer and it's reading 37C.

More of the same tomorrow. :(

Hoping for a thaw here! :)

When I paid big bucks for a new air conditioner a couple of years ago, I thought maybe I was overdoing it. This week, it has saved my sanity. But if we'd had a power blackout in my area, I don't know what I would have done. As for my vegie garden, it curled up and died the second 43 degree day.

Dave, if we add your local temperature to ours and take an average, that'd probably suit us all nicely.

Sherryl, did you get hit by the blackouts at all?
