The scourge of Far Northern chooks

Forget the 2.7m carpet python in a toilet bowl! Pythons were out raiding chook pens last week. Among them was a 6m scrub (amethystine) python that was sprung going after the chickens on a property in Koah. It had already taken on a turkey. The snake was released a safe distance from the pen.

that video is well worth watching - hear the guy say "this is not time to play around!" I'm glad we don't get them like that around here - or at least I don't think we do!

I thought he did well wrangling that snake more or less on his own. You wouldn't have seen me anywhere near it.

That's about 5m too much snake for me, unless it's seriously into nonviolence and meditation. No way I'd fight it for a chicken - as much as I like them, it would be every chicken for herself in that case.

I'd be throwing the chickens in front of me!

It's nice to know that there are still big snakes around and that the bogans haven't killed them all. Having said that, I haven't seen any snake longer than about 2m here. And that suits me fine.

Safe distance? Where? Brazil? ;)

Aren't there anacondas in Brazil?! It might have to be Antarctica.
