Weddings, Parties, Anything, 'A Tale They Won't Believe'.

The story of Alexander Pearce, who was transported to Van Diemen's Land in 1819 for stealing shoes. What happened after that is quite a tale, one so outlandish and gruesome that the authorities really didn't believe it...at first.

And while we're on Van Diemen's Land, have a look at the Founders and Survivors Storylines project, which tells the stories of convicts and their descendants through convict records, images and songs. The songs, most of which were written by Mick Thomas (of Weddings, Parties, Anything), were performed earlier this year in a multimedia show called Vandemonian Lags. They are now available on CD. It's a great project.
