I'm off to Far North Queensland again in a fortnight. I'll be in Cairns for a week, on the Atherton Tablelands for another week and then maybe at Eungella and Cape Hillsborough for a few days before heading home. Tropical rainforest, mangroves and tidal flats — here I come!
The drives there and back will be rushed because I have to meet deadlines. A conference is going to consume most of my time in Cairns but I'll have Friday and Saturday to do some bird-watching on the Esplanade and in the botanical gardens. Now I come to think of it, I'll be spending most evenings working. Damn! That's not right. I'll just have to be very, very organized.
It'll be nice to leave the big city for a few weeks. The only thing I'm worried about is that I'll come home to find that the fat-arsed mouse has changed the locks and invited all its friends to stay.
I made the same journey a little under a year ago but at a more leisurely pace. If you're interested, the first post about the trip is here. It goes on to there.
