Impressive bustard

Serendip Sanctuary is back in the bustard breeding business. This handsome fellow was strutting his stuff for the benefit of the girls but they didn't seem to be very interested. Their lack of attention did not deter him. He continued to shake his throat feathers, turning slowly to ensure everyone got an eyeful of his finery. He roared like a (distant) lion and boomed like an emu. There was no chance of missing him.

Throat feathers? Huh! I didn't know they could do that. Well it impressed me :-)

Spectacular seeing the display up so close. My sightings have always been wild birds at long distance.

Impressive indeed! Just one more thing I'd like to see.

He was quite a stunner, that bird.

Of course, once I got home, I remembered that the point and shoot camera in my backpack can do video ... 'Tis always the way!

His booming was very similar to that of the emus, so there might have been some cross-species confusion!
