Possum tragic

In a demonstration of the triumph of hope over experience, this male coppery brushtail peers through the window each night just in case I might have left it open. After a spot of nosing the glass, pawing at the pane and then scrambling up the window frame, he usually gives up. Until the next night.

One day I'll forget to close the window and he'll be laughing.

O-o-h! He's so cute! How can you resist?

He is very cute, but could you imagine the havoc he could wreak inside a house?!

Cute little guy! Do you feed him?

Not a chance! If you do that, you'll never get rid of the little devils. They are astonishly persistent ... and resourceful. I'm sure this one is learning to pick locks.

He probably retreats to the woods, rubs his little paws together and bellows an eerie MWAH-ha-ha-ha each evening in anticipation of the next day's successful sortie.

:D

I suspect you're right!

There's also another possum around the place: a rather better mannered female with pouch young. Although I could do with fewer brushtails, I'm looking forward to the first outing of the new baby (or babies).

I love this photo! What I want to know is, do you still jump?
