I've been off Teh Intanets for a while because I've been inundated in a) paperwork and b) nonsense. You know the drill. Also c) a small contract job, which I have just decided to back up ... to be on the safe side. As you do. On a new external hard drive. Which I am formatting. Two and a half hours later, it's only up to 47%. (It's quite a big external hard drive.)
